Digital Futures

Digital Learning at Woodseaves CE Primary Academy

At Woodseaves CE Primary Academy, we combine the warmth of a rural setting with a bold, forward-thinking approach to technology. Our digital strategy ensures every child is equipped with the tools, skills, and mindset needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

1:1 iPads from Year One Upwards

From Year One onwards, every child has access to their own iPad, supporting personalised learning across the curriculum. Children use their devices to explore, create, collaborate, and deepen their understanding in engaging and interactive ways.

Weekly Mental Health & Wellbeing Lessons

We use digital platforms to support our weekly mental health curriculum, helping children develop emotional literacy, resilience, and mindfulness through age-appropriate resources and activities.

A Clear Digital Roadmap

Our Digital Roadmap outlines how children progress in their use of technology from EYFS through to Year 6. It ensures that digital skills are built systematically and meaningfully, preparing children for the future - whatever it may hold.

Magma Maths

Children use Magma Maths, a powerful adaptive app that builds fluency and confidence in mathematical concepts through fun, interactive challenges.

Olex AI

We are proud to be exploring Olex AI, an innovative tool that supports personalised learning and assessment, helping teachers tailor support and challenge to meet individual needs.

Microsoft Teams for Learning & Reflection

Children and staff use Microsoft Teams to record learning, access teacher inputs, and reflect on progress. This platform supports blended learning and helps children take ownership of their learning journey.

Digital Interventions – Nessy

We use Nessy, a trusted intervention programme, to support children with literacy development, particularly those with dyslexia or other learning needs. Nessy helps build reading, spelling, and phonics skills in a fun and supportive way.

Curriculum Integration: From AI to Fake News

We embed the appropriate use of technology into our curriculum. Children explore:

  • Bias and fake news in media and online content

  • The role of AI in society and learning

  • The impact of technology on sustainability and the environment

The Woodseaves WonderPod

Our children regularly contribute to the Woodseaves WonderPod, a digital vlog where they respond to thought-provoking “I wonder…” questions. This initiative encourages curiosity, communication, and digital presentation skills.

A Rural School with Global Vision

Though nestled in the countryside, our pupils are connected to the wider world through technology. From virtual field trips to collaborative projects, we ensure our children experience a broad and balanced education that reaches beyond the classroom walls.
